Poverty affects millions in London including 700,000 children, 1.4 working-age adults and 200,000 seniors. Poverty means not being able to heat your home, pay your rent, or buy the essentials for you and your family. It means waking up every day facing insecurity, uncertainty, and impossible decisions about money.
It’s 2020 and advances have happened in every area of our lives, but shockingly, there are still children and adults living here in London who are going to sleep and waking up hungry. In many cases, these are families where both parents are working, but with rising rents and high cost of living, there’s not much left for food.
‘Boxes of Basics’ is a new charity, passionate to help families and children living with food poverty. As our name declares, we provide boxes of basic food and household essentials. We are a first point of contact for individuals or families in crisis.
